Additional Details:

This year, the Rocket Launch will double as our October Pack Meeting. In addition to the launching of rockets, there will be a few space/aeronautics/physics-themed activities which will be run by Den Leaders and Pack Leaders. At the start of the Rocket Launch / Pack Meeting, Cub Scouts will be divided into groups and the groups will rotate through the activities.

If you can only attend part of this event due to other commitments, please come for whatever time you can. If you have limited time, proceed directly to the line of Cub Scouts in the Launch Zone and wait your turn to launch your rocket. If you are running short on time, please inform the launch team and we will make sure you get a chance to launch your rocket.

This year we will NOT have coffee and doughnuts. Rather, we will provide water, cups, and individual snacks leftover from the fall campout.

Rocket Assembly Tips

Before Launch Day, Cub Scouts must assemble their rocket with their parent or with their Den; detailed instructions are included in each kit. Some basic tools are needed (scissors, tape, glue, etc.).

Complete all the steps on pages 1 and 2 and the top step on page 3 (except the kits do not have recover wadding, so you cannot do those two sub-steps in advance). See the below highlighted pages.

On Launch Day, an adult leader will install the wadding, engine, starter, and plug – all of which the Pack will provide. Also, the Pack will supply the launch pads.

The Pack will set up a folding table with glue, tape, and scissors in case any last-minute repairs are needed.

Each Cub Scout is welcome to personalize the “body tube” of their rocket with markers, paint or spray paint, stickers, etc. Please ensure the decorations do not interfere with the working parts of the rocket, especially the fin assemble, launch lug, engine hook, and nose cone.
