The Pack Experience

Pack 733 Activities at a Glance

Open House

The first Pack meeting of the year is an Open House event. Children and their families are invited to attend and learn about Cub Scouts. The meeting features a professional performance or demonstration, such as Rainforest Reptiles, Wingmasters, or the Awesome Robb Magic Show.

Monthly Pack Meetings

Once per month the entire Pack (all grades) gathers in the Barrows cafetorium for group activities, recognition of individual and Den accomplishments, and announce upcoming events.

Regular Den Meetings

Den meetings are the “bread-and-butter” of the Cub Scout experience. Each Den is comprised of scouts in a particular grade (1st grade = Tiger Den, 2nd Grade = Wolf Den, 3rd grade = Bear Den, 4th grade = Webelos Den, and 5th grade = Arrow of Light Den)

One or more times per month, each Den gathers to work on age-appropriate “Adventures” that support team building, personal growth, skill development, friendship, and fun.

Den meetings are organized by the Den Leader for each grade. They take place at different times and locations throughout the scouting season.

Each “Adventures” has been designed by Boy Scouts of America to develop character and leadership, appreciation of the outdoors, personal fitness, good citizenship, personal safety, and connection to family and community.

Pack Hikes

Several times in the fall and spring, all members of the Pack and their families are invited to hike together. The Pack’s Outings Chair plans hikes in the Reading area and beyond. Hikes are usually 1 to 2 miles and are a great opportunity to get outdoors and spend time together.

Fall Faire

The Pack hosts a tent at the Reading Fall Faire, to spread the message of scouting and recruit new members.

Rocket Launch

In the fall, each scout assembles their own model rocket from kits provided by the Pack. The Pack meets in a public park to share in the fun of launching their rockets.

Campouts

One time in the fall and one time in the spring, the Pack will come together for a one-night camp out. Scouts and their families come together for Den activities during the day, an all-Pack dinner, and campfire time.

Popcorn Sales

In the fall, Pack 733 sells Trails End popcorn as a fundraiser. Popcorn sales teach the Cub Scouts about leadership, interpersonal communication, salesmanship, and goal setting. The revenue from the sales offsets the costs of scouting, including membership dues, outings, and membership in the Spirit of Adventure Council, Boy Scouts of America. Recognition is given and prizes are awarded to individual Cub Scouts who lead in sales.

Ski Trip

In January, the Pack hits the slopes for a day of skiing and snowtubing. The Pack arranges for discounted rental and lift tickets for scouts and their families.

Pinewood Derby

In the spring, each scout designs and builds a Pinewood Derby racecar (with the help of an adult). The Pack gathers to see the creative designs and race against the clock!

Winter Overnight

In the winter, the Pack plans an exciting and educational indoor overnight experience. Past destinations have included the Museum of Science, Battleship Cove, and the EcoTarium.

Multi-Pack Events

Each year there are opportunities to join our fellow Cub Scouts in Pack 702 and Pack 735 for outdoor events such as Packapalooza!

Blue & Gold Banquet

In the spring, the Pack congregates for an evening at a nearby function hall for dinner and fun. The Blue & Gold banquet is a celebration of Pack, Den, and individual successes.

Memorial Day Parade

Pack 733 is honored to march in the Reading Memorial Day Parade, along with our fellow Cub Scout Pack 702, Cub Scout Pack 735, and BSA Scout Troop 702
